Celebrating the Fourth of July in Healdsburg

July 2, 2026

What could be better as we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday than spending the Fourth of July weekend in the charming, small town of Healdsburg! Celebrate the holiday with a weekend packed full of fun, classic Americana activities, and spectacular fireworks, all while soaking in the unique community spirit that makes this corner of Sonoma County so incredibly special. It’s truly a way to relax, slow down, and enjoy a bit of Healdsburg’s small town appeal.

The big day kicks off bright and early with a special holiday edition of the Healdsburg Farmers' Market, from 8:30 AM to 12 PM.  Experience the incredible bounty of local produce, vibrant summer flowers, beautiful handmade crafts from local artisans, and delicious prepared foods perfect for a quick, fresh breakfast.

Healdsburg Plaza Festivities & The Sunrise Rotary Duck Dash

After exploring the market, make your way over to the historic downtown Healdsburg Plaza. From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Plaza comes alive with daytime festivities co-hosted by the City of Healdsburg and the Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise. The morning is jam-packed with a patriotic children's costume parade, live American roots music, and a classic car display. Best of all, families can enjoy a variety of free treats and activities, including refreshing snow cones, fresh corn on the cob, and creative face painting! Don't miss the hallmark event of the morning: the famous Duck Dash, where you can adopt a lucky rubber duck to race down the water channels and help support local scholarships.

Spectacular Nighttime Fireworks

When night falls, get ready for one of the most dazzling fireworks displays in Sonoma County! The main event shoots off at 9:30 PM from Healdsburg High School, sending brilliant colors over 200 feet into the night sky. Because the display flies so high, you can catch an incredible view from almost any unobstructed vantage point across town.

Important Pro-Tip for Spectators: To ensure safety zones for the larger fireworks, there will be absolutely no viewing access allowed on the actual High School sports fields. Instead, map out your viewing strategy early! Pack your lawn chairs and blankets and head to the High School’s west parking lot, or secure a spot on the turf at Fitch Mountain Elementary School. Additionally, local streets like University Avenue and Sanns Lane will be completely closed to vehicle traffic, creating safe, dedicated pedestrian zones perfect for setting up a viewing spot with the family.

More Ways to Complete Your Perfect Holiday Weekend

If you are looking to round out your long holiday weekend with even more local flavor, Healdsburg offers endless ways to explore:

  • Catch a Baseball Game: For a classic slice of hometown Americana, grab tickets to see the Healdsburg Prune Packers - the town's beloved collegiate summer baseball team—play a historic home game under the lights at Rec Park on Piper Street.

  • Get on the Water: Cool off from the summer heat by renting a kayak or canoe to float down the scenic Russian River or head to Lake Sonoma, where you can rent a motor boat, pontoon boat, or canoe. And remember to pack a festive picnic and spend the afternoon soaking up the sun.

  • Wine Country Picnics & Pop-Ups: Take your celebrations into the vineyards. Healdsburg sits just minutes from the world-class Dry Creek, Russian River, and Alexander Valleys. Many local wineries host incredible holiday weekend experiences, ranging from relaxing yoga sessions in the garden and vineyard farm tours to outdoor pizza-making classes and exclusive pop-up culinary collaborations featuring excellent local chefs and artisans.

If you haven’t already discovered the magic of Healdsburg, this Fourth of July weekend is the perfect excuse for a visit (or three!). Beware, though - you’ll probably end up falling completely in love with everything this charming town has to offer. And if you find yourself wishing you never had to leave and are looking for a beautiful place to call home, come and talk to us. We would love to meet you, show you around, and help you find your own slice of paradise here!
